How do we build a venture for you
01
Venture Ideation
We adopt three different approaches for venture ideation with considering the entire lifecycle of the disruptive ventures.
Investage identifies the business idea to shape and design a venture. Identifying business ideas can be done in different ways. Ideation is the activity where venture builders diverge most from one another. Some venture builders clone existing models. Others choose an opportunity space where they develop research projects, explore different ideas, and prototype concepts. Regardless of the specific approach used, the goal is to come up with a viable business idea. There are three main approaches to deciding “what to build”: using Methodological Ideation, Benchmarking and Adaptation, and Expertise and Experience.
02
Team Building
We have a systematic approach for team building based on risk taking and other personality traits to ensure that the innovative team is fully aligned.
Investage creates teams from the ground up. People are the essential elements of innovative business models, and Smart people can do great things. Team building is undertaken once the business idea is identified clearly. Building a team is not the esoteric work of destiny, and planetary alignment startup literature has often presented, but the result of hard work, lots of empathy, and proper testing. Startup teams benefit from the branding that investage provides. Also, the expertise, the pool of great talent, and the methodological approach of the Investage create an umbrella that attracts people whose risk profile would otherwise never be a fit for entrepreneurship.
03
Providing Shared Services
We provide ventures with business services from legal and accounting to intellectual property management and co-working spaces.
Investage provides shared services to its ventures, such as legal, design, or accounting. Startups need many services that are either not core to the business (e.g., accounting) or would profoundly benefit from a shared trademark with the venture builder (e.g., graphic design). Having these services in-house is a heavy financial burden during the early stages. The shared services format allows for good quality and benefits from economies of scale.
04
Talent matchmaking
We provide talents to ventures and backers to founders based on each venture’s vision and mission.
Investage provides talent to the ventures in times of need. Our operational staff may switch between ventures as talent needs arise. Finding the right talent is hard, so most startups are launched with an insufficient in-house team. In this case, the venture builder provides the human resources needed to start operations. A different scenario is when complex problems arise. That’s when the venture builder temporarily sends senior talent, or SWAT teams, to help startups deal with those issues.
05
Fundraising
We facilitate access to venture funds from design to development by considering each venture roadmap and progress.
Investage facilitates access to capital for the startups they develop. They do this either through a fund they own or by connecting the different ventures to their network of investors. Although venture builders initially financed the design phase, some have built a solid reputation that enables them to raise money before the concepts are defined. As for their startups, fundraising is a never-ending task. They benefit from leveraging the venture builder’s network of investors. On other occasions, the venture builder has a fund dedicated to its ventures.
06
Managing the Ventures
We lead ventures and govern our portfolio companies on their strategic-level decisions.
Investage helps lead the ventures. They can have a governance role; they can participate in the management of the companies, or both. Investage is the co-founder and thus has a role in the direction of the company. The senior leadership of the venture builder may join the meetings where the leaders of the different startups make critical governance and management decisions.
